Kohler Mira 2021 Charity Partnership with Sue Ryder

Story

In 2018 my Dad got diagnosed with Lymphoma. After a successful round of chemotherapy, Dad went into remission. Unfortunately in August 2019, his cancer came back. After four months of gruelling treatment, we had the devastating news that Dad wasn't going to get better.

It was at this time the wonderful Sue Ryder team at Leckhampton Court Hospice stepped in - firstly caring for my Dad at home and then as an inpatient at the Hospice. Dad sadly died on Friday 24 January 2020 at the Hospice.

It was undoubtedly the most difficult time of our lives. I can't thank the Sue Ryder team enough for the care, compassion and support they provided our family. My Dad was a wonderful husband, Dad, Grandad and friend and they treated him with dignity he so truly deserved in his final days.

So, after a few false starts due to getting older and picking up an injury - I'm running a marathon to raise vital funds for the Hospice.  I swore I'd never do this again - as it's a stupidly long way to run - but I made a promise to my Dad that I would when he was ill - so I can't really argue with that!

As injury forced me out of the London Marathon - I'm recreating it in my hometown in December. I'm also throwing in a few miles uphill so I can go and visit my Dad on the top of Cleeve Hill - his final resting place. Every pound I raise will be matched by my company Kohler Mira which is fantastic.

It'll be miserable, cold and probably wet - so please dig deep and sponsor me so we can support this wonderful cause in memory of my wonderful Dad.

Thank you, Laura x
